Launch Site Access Report Updated May 12 2020

Due to the perfect storm of flood levels on area lakes causing high release volumes and Covid 19 park closures, the list of available safe paddling launches has been challenging to compile.  The following information includes most area water recreation locations—not just the Trinity River. We will try to address particular questions and requests though our Facebook Page and the contact us link and will update as often as possible. Most restrooms will probably be closed.

Texas state parks have reopened for day use only (no camping) but you MUST MAKE RESERVATIONS IN ADVANCE to enter the parks and use the launches. From TPWD: "The online reservation system is working now, We apologize for the frustration. You can reserve your Day Pass for parks that are open at https://texasstateparks.reserveamerica.com/.

Trinity River Paddle Trail

For all trips on the Paddle Trail please check for hazards and flow levels on our interactive map on the Paddle Trail Page.

Elm Fork of the Trinity River - UPDATE Flow levels still running dangerously high between Lewisvile Dam and McInnish Park and these sections should be avoided by all paddlers. Flow levels south of Carrollton Dam are still quite high, but no longer classified as dangerous. We reccomend only experienced paddlers should attempt the sections on the Elm and Main branch south of Carrollton Dam.

At current water levels there are no safe park and paddle locations currently on the remainder of the Trinity River Paddling Trail and TC strongly recommends against shuttle trips with anyone other that housemates already exposed to each other.

The West Fork of the Trinity River from Eagle Mountain Lake through the mid cities is safe to paddle, though check your route to be aware of any dams or other hazards by using our interactive paddle trail map. Any trips from Beach Street Launch to the East will require a shuttle and we reccomend you ony shuttle with housemates. Fort Worth Nature Center-closed. If you access the river from Ten Mile Bridge Road or other unofficial launch sites or from Lake Worth do not make landfall on FWNC preserve property.

The Clear Fork of the Trinity River is now at a resonable flow and can be paddled.

Backwoods Paddle Sports is open for rentals Wed-Sun at Panther Island at the confluence of Clear and West Forks in downtown Fort Worth

Fort Worth Nature Center-closed.
